Taking a Breather: Why We're Scaling Back on Social Media Posts

Updated: Jun 25

“MaMa, what fun things are we doing today?” That’s what my youngest asked me after we had spent the entire seven hours at the pool swimming with friends. They also had a morning vacation bible school where they got to eat Swedish Fish candies inside of blue Jello, among other snacks. When I broke it to my sweetheart that we were ‘getting ready for night-night’, my heart tore in half by my baby crawling into my arms and begging me for ‘mama snuggles’. My heart melted to the floor.

I homeschool, a pre-pandemic decision my husband and I made a while back. I left my career outside of the home to be at home to raise and educate our kids, and play with the dog! I own my own business. I control my own schedule, well, mostly! But I just didn’t see how much of that time with the kids was actually on my computer, in a work meeting, or on the phone with a client or vendor. Not that any of those are bad, I love my clients and vendor friends - most of them are like family to me. But what I didn’t see was the desire for ‘screen-free’ time with me that my kiddos (and husband) wanted back. So I tracked my time. I took note of the ‘ABC’s (in applied behavior analysis this is Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence) and concluded that our social media creation and engagement can be changed to weekly and that the results will still be spectacular! I can still blog and help my awesome couples while also focusing on making life time memories. It's a win-win.

As much as I adore sharing my insights and experiences with you all through our daily social media sessions, I've come to a heartfelt decision that I believe is in the best interest of both my family and our wonderful wedding planning community to go to a weekly/bi-monthly social media posting schedule. Who knows? Maybe we'll go back to all the time on the 'gram and the 'book, but for now, the majority of the meat and potatoes will be on focused on our Pinterest boards!

I've poured my heart and soul into crafting valuable content, offering tips, and sharing the latest trends to assist you in crafting your dream wedding. However, amidst the whirlwind of juggling work commitments, family time, and personal pursuits, I've realized the importance of taking a step back and reassessing how I allocate my time and energy.

I've noticed that in the hustle and bustle of managing our social media, I've yearned for more direct, one-on-one interactions with my gorgous brides entrusting us with their wedding dreams. Your love stories, your visions, and your unique personalities inspire me beyond measure. By dedicating more time to personally connecting with each of our brides and grooms, I hope to delve deeper into understanding your dreams and aspirations, and ultimately, bring them to life in the most magical way possible.

In addition to all this, I’ve also come to realize that our thriving wedding and event planning business deserves my undivided professional attention - and so do my young kids. By reallocating the time previously spent on daily social media, I can focus more energy on hanging out with my babies, going hiking with our boxer, refining our wedding planning services, perfecting our craft, and ensuring that every detail of your special day is meticulously curated to perfection. Oh, and be present at your elegant event, let's not forget that one! So instead of researching my post title, outlining, writing, editing, adding pics, doing the cool SEO tricks, and then scheduling and posting, EVERY SINGLE DAY… I’ll be focusing more on my family and my clients!

While bidding farewell to daily blog posts may seem bittersweet, I'm thrilled to introduce our new Pinterest home! Instead of focusing on just social media outreach, we'll be doing more of the search engine outreach and approach. The 'pin world will offer a lot for the world to see while on a weekly or bi-monhtly basis, on the social media side of things, I'll be offering exclusive insights, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and perhaps a few surprises of me along the way. This is an idea that came about when one of my friends mentioned that she hadn't seen any posts or videos with my messy bun, hoodie, and sweatpants front and center. I want to showcase snippets of me. Me spilling my coffee. Me dropping my phone. Me sharing how my van's back 'trunk' area is currently filled with baseball and gymnastics stuff and how my foldable blanket is outside drying from the spilled fruit water incident. Yeah. That stuff. More of my real-life stuff!

Don’t worry, my commitment to serving you with unparalleled passion, dedication, and creativity remains unwavering. I promise to pour my heart into each monthly blog post, ensuring that it's filled with invaluable tips, heartfelt anecdotes, and endless inspiration to guide you on your wedding planning journey.

Keep checking in on social media, schedule a discovery call, visit me in person, and enjoy the future blog posts - I’m not done, yet! The wedding and event planning continues strong with me!
